With more and more smaller short run graphics being produced, die cutting has slowly been replaced with fast, high speed cutting tables (other wise known as flatbed digital cutters). You may be familiar with brands such as Zund, kongsberg, Colex, and even Summa all fighting for market share in this growing segment. One brand that has been around for a long time who more known for their robust CNC routing tables is Multicam. They more recently came out with the Digital Express, a dual purpose machine that can route, cut, kiss cut, and score. We purchased one machine a few years ago and had such success, we just acquired our second.
"The Multicam has been such a workhorse for our finishing department, there is rarely a time it is not running. We can cut foam core, score boxes, route aluminum, and kiss cut a decal without breaking a sweat." -Julio Henriquez Production Manager
There are so many possibilities with routing. From simple 2 dimensional shapes, 2.5 dimensional layered logos, to full 3d cut emblems like the ones pictured above. Digital cutting is fast and a economical way to produce short-medium sized jobs that require complex precision cuts. The process has become a major part of our company and will continue to grow in the years to come. See some of the products we cut on a daily basis below.
